Has It Occurred to Anyone That She Deserves It?
After Sarah Palin spent weeks trying to tie Barack Obama directly to terrorism via a tenuous link to Bill Ayers, riling up right-wing extremists who openly called for his death, and spending all her energy attacking Obama with cheap shots and lies, it seems she’s experiencing a bit of a backlash now.
The best quote from that article is this one:
But Randy Scheunemann, McCain’s foreign policy aide, praised Palin and said attacks from other staffers were ‘dishonorable’.
He told The Anchorage Daily News: ‘I think it’s unprecedented in terms of presidential politics to have this level of vindictiveness and pettiness. It’s like these people fell out of favour with a middle school 14-year-old girls’ clique. It’s really unbelievable.’
No, Randy, it’s entirely believable, and it’s delicious payback. It’s also well-deserved. She spent her six weeks on the campaign trail embarking on a journey of dishonor herself. While the nation marveled at her astounding ignorance and apparent stupidity, she just carried on repeating attacks and swiping at Obama every chance she got, instead of trying to show the world she actually has some brains (I still don’t think she does — she sure hasn’t shown us any).
The Republican party was insane to select her as a running mate for McCain, but for her (and her supporters) to think that she would just be able to crawl back to Alaska with her tail between her legs without being noticed, and, more importantly, without some kind of reckoning … that’s just insane.
Of course, this vindictiveness isn’t even coming from outside the party — she rode in on the Republican dime, fucked them hard, lost the election for them, and expects to go home without incident? Heh. Good luck, honey. They’re pissed, and they’ve got a deserving scapegoat.
Update: They even said this was coming if Obama won. Heh. Bloodbath indeed.
