The latest bag of shit to land in my inbox from the idiots at the “American Family Association” is this hilarious voter issue guide. It’s a handy breakdown of what the two presidential candidates support and oppose.

I genuinely wonder if anybody over there at the AFA actually looked at this thing objectively before they shipped it out for all the world to see — it really is a menu of hatred. If you want to hate the stuff described on this list, you vote for the red guy (McCain), but if you largely think we have rights that need protecting, you vote for the blue guy (Obama).

Seriously, though — read through the list, and realize just how much hate drives these people. By their own admission, the AFA:

• Thinks homosexuals are subhumans, not entitled to any of the protections or rights granted to every other citizen (regardless of race, creed, color, religion, etc.):
  • It thinks the Federal government of the United States of America should explicitly outlaw marriages between same-sex couples, by explicitly codifying a “marriage” as a union between a man and a woman — directly overriding the will of each of the States in the Union (so much for sovereignty, eh?)
  • It also thinks State governments should be forced to adopt similar “marriage protection” ideas in the form of Constitutional amendments (i.e. it wants to force new amendments on the States — again, no more choice for the states)
  • It believes that publicly-funded schools shouldn’t be permitted to expose students to issues related to homosexuality, including the discussion of current events and attempts to eliminate sexual discrimination.
  • It believes that it’s totally okay to beat, murder, or rape a person because of their sexual orientation (but only if that orientation is “gay” or “lesbian” or “bisexual”) — the AFA is opposed to “hate crime laws.”
  • It believes homosexuals should never be permitted to adopt a child, even if they are qualified in all required respects.
• Thinks women have no rights whatsoever regarding their own bodies, and thinks the government exists solely to peddle its own agenda:
  • It opposes all abortions of all kinds, and wants Roe v. Wade (the Supreme Court case where our highest court upheld an American’s right to have an abortion) overturned.
  • Going beyond reversing Roe v. Wade, it wants additional bans put in place to ban specific kinds of abortions, additional laws put into place to force mothers of unwanted children to continue caring for so-called “botched abortions,” and additional laws added to make it unlawful to cross state lines to get an abortion.
  • It wants to “stack the deck” by nominating more anti-woman judges to the Supreme Court.
• Thinks all Americans should have unfettered access to all manner of offensive weaponry:
  • In classic “head in the sand” style, the AFA thinks any attempt to restrict access to certain types of weaponry is a Second Amendment violation (because, hell, even ten-year-olds should have fully-automatic weapons, right?).
• Somehow thinks punishing poorly-performing schools with reduced funding (by introducing vouchers) will improve our nation’s education system.
• Wants the government to butt out of the health care system entirely (because it’s doing such a wonderful job on its own right now).
• Wants to lift bans on offshore drilling (what the fuck does that have to do with a family values platform?)

It’s a handy little checklist: the AFA really do hate women, homosexuals, environmentalists, educators, the sick (who can’t afford health care under the current system), and the poor (rob the only schools they can afford to send their kids to by using vouchers to transfer funds to “richer” schools).

Tell these assholes to shove their hate straight up their asses, folks — don’t vote for the Republicans this November, and start running these hate-mongers out of town once we’ve kicked them out of office.
