"It Seems So Short"
This evening a friend of mine experienced for the first time what real "entertainment" means on a television. We've done this kind of thing before on a limited basis, but usually to watch a movie -- this was the first time she'd watched several episodes of a half-hour television show played from a laptop computer (displayed on the television, of course) without commercial interruptions.
That's not completely true -- we've watched DVDs of television shows together, like *Family Guy* and *American Dad*, but tonight we watched the first four episodes of the first season of *MXC*, an absolutely hilarious time waster of a show wherein footage from a psychotic Japanese game show is played, with silly voiceovers (intentionally ignoring the original meaning of the speakers) giving an absolutely hilarious play-by-play of the on-screen action. Contestants compete in an assortment of very physical, very painful-looking contests, where a combination of luck, skill, and endurance bring a lucky few to victory, and lead the rest to hilarious failure. A part of your soul feels dark and evil as you cackle with glee at just how painful some of the harsher hits and impacts are. [Have a look here to see some of the silliness](http://youtube.com/watch?v=isnkcYYZEHE). Yes, it took awhile to find a decent clip of MXC on Youtube that *didn't* include the stupid "generic heavy metal soundtrack with butt-ugly amateur bumpers to open and close the video" crap that so many YouTubers seem to love. That's particularly annoying here because the voiceovers of *MXC* really make it deliciously funny (yes, the antics on-screen are funny by themselves but it's the color commentary that makes your sides hurt from all the laughter).
