Holy Singers!

This afternoon I was treated to a couple of songs performed by members of the EGHS Encore Show Choir. The cost of admission, “free but you have to sit through a bunch of church gunk,” was well worth paying. I must admit though I could barely contain my laughter (seriously — I had to cover my mouth) when our very own congresscritter Dave Weldon gave his sermon, admonishing all those young whippersnappers (my word, not his) to be very wary of all those “professors who believe in Darwinism” (sadly, those are his words, not mine). Fear and ignorance: alive and well in America’s churches. Anyway, enough of that crap. Want to listen to some good music?

  • The EGHS Encore Show Choir performing I Will Be Here
  • Shannon Biagi (a member of the EGHS Encore Show Choir, and this year’s Choir President) performing Arms of Love

Enjoy!

EGHS Concert & Women's Choirs MPA Performance (March 28, 2008)

You heard the rehearsals, now listen to the final performance at the MPA’s at Merritt Island High School.

(Same as before — these files are fair game to download, listen to, and share)

Unfortunately there was a bit of a glitch in the first song of the second set; the damned recorder dropped one line of the first song. Sorry about that, folks Sad

New and Improved! Now with working !@#$ing “download” and “play” links. The silly audio module that handles that stuff added some new permissions that I needed to actually enable before downloads and playback worked for everybody. I’m a bit new to this whole “make the site work for people who are actually reading it” thing Smiling I’m not used to visitors Smiling To download these, click the title and then click “Download File” on the page that follows.

Finally, I’ve added in the rehearsals here as well, so they’re all gathered up on one page. Just in case anyone was interested in snagging it all Smiling

EGHS Concert & Women's Choirs Rehearsal (March 25, 2008)

[Edit: Welcome, EGHS MySpacers! These files are completely free to listen to, download, and share — have at it! Thanks for giving all of our ears pleasant songs to listen to!]

The Eau Gallie High School Concert Choir and Women’s Choir held a public rehearsal this evening for their upcoming performance at this year’s MPA’s. I used my dinky little HTC Excalibur to record it from the seating in the auditorium.

The performances were very good — this recording is absolutely awful. The phone just barely had the horsepower to compress this to MP3 in realtime and it did a poor job of it. The next recording will be direct, uncompressed WAV. This audio has been “massaged” as much as possible to be audible. It sounded much better in person, I promise.

There are two songs in each file below; feel free to snag these and have a listen! Click the titles of these files for a details page that includes a link to directly download the MP3s if you’d prefer to play them in your own player instead of listening to them here in the browser.

I’ve added the final performances here, too.

Time to Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is!

Let the happy dances begin! Here’s a good opportunity for every single person out there who’s ever said “I’d buy music if it were cheaper/if the money went straight to the artists/if there wasn’t DRM crap in the digital version” to put up some cash.

Have you got five bucks handy? For a whopping five dollars, you can buy a downloadable copy of Nine Inch Nails’ newest release, Ghosts. This is straight from the artist, folks — a legitimate purchase, and a lawful copy that’s all yours.
